According to the State of Digital Signage 2026 report by Kitcast, healthcare screens follow the waiting-room model — weather (77%), media (72%) and calendars (48%) — but the content is among the slowest-refreshed of any industry, at a median 43.1 days. telemetry

The healthcare content mix is built for waiting: weather (77%), general media (72%), templates (52%), calendars (48%) and news (38%) — content that fills time pleasantly for people who would rather be elsewhere. Web pages also run higher here (42%) than in most verticals, typically patient-information and departmental pages.

The weak spot is freshness. At a median 43.1 days between content updates, healthcare is the second-slowest vertical in the report (only education is slower) — two and a half times the all-industry median of 16.8 days. For screens meant to reassure and inform patients, a quarter-old loop is a quiet credibility leak. The typical healthcare workspace runs 1 screen (mean 3.9).
