We continue publishing excerpts from our set of DSSE interviews as a part of the digital signage podcast series. Video Walls have been a digital signage solution for a fairly long time, and while there are plenty of more innovative and cutting-edge visual technologies – video walls can still become the trick up your sleeve in the highly competitive markets. One of the most peculiar things about the video walls is that the demand for them mostly comes from the education industry followed by healthcare. We asked Katrin Kerber, Account Manager Graphics at Matrox to address this issue and explain how a regular college or school can adjust the technology to its needs.
"The interesting part is we want to help you consolidate several information types on a single visualization array, so to say. And that is where we're seeing the tendency: in the university you want to show the whole lecture program, combined with the latest technology videos (depending on the university). In the medical (hospital area) there's a great interest to stream surgery information available to students at a very high resolution.
It [video wall technology] is very accessible as we start with very low-сomplex solutions. Everyone knows how a PC works, everyone knows how a graphic card gets installed. Important is that you choose a proper display. From the content perspective: just a mix of multiple content at the same time within a large videowall creates more attention than just a single screen with a video playback."
