Our clients often wonder what is a good digital signage content creation. Putting it shortly, it’s what works best for your business or organization. There are tools that help you with crafting the right stuff, but it’s always individual. In this article, we’ll provide you with some tips on what to think about when creating the content.

Creating content for digital signage is not the easiest of tasks. It’s not the hardest either. As with every marketing tool, getting the full potential out of it requires some time and effort. Sure, you always can use the best industry practices, but you may almost never know how it will play out in your particular niche.

Today we’ll be focusing on some tips & tricks that will make the digital signage content creation process more straightforward, beneficial, and enjoyable for you.

1. Always put the audience first

Knowing your audience is one of the most important staples of any marketing strategy. You simply can’t have efficient content marketing without proper research and know-how about who the people that are going to watch it are. At the end of the day, it’s all about them. They are the ones that will watch everything you put out there.

So cater to their interests. There’s this common mistake of using the content that is considered popular at the moment and relying on it to get the job. While it’s smart to keep your hand on the pulse of the trends, if it’s absolutely out of the interest range of the people you’re targeting, you risk spending resources on a thing that is a loser from the very beginning.

That’s why do your homework. Do the RESEARCH. Know exactly who you’re showing your content to and what they like.

Once you’ve got it all figured out in the beginning, it will only get better afterward.

2. Think quality over quantity

If the goal of your digital signage is sales, produce content that brings them. Don’t get lost trying to do everything at once. It is a path nowhere. Focus on the things that are sure to get you to the result you’re looking for. That mindset will save you lots of time and money.

And never forget that people know when something is bad. While you may think that this 720p video you have used along with a couple of 1080p ones because you didn’t have a budget to shoot better will do the work, in reality it will make things worse. It will undermine your credibility and you will eventually lose trust.

Because digital signage loves awesome content and that’s exactly what it is great at amplifying. So always be quality-oriented and don’t settle for less. Thoroughly check every piece of content that going to be broadcast and cut out those pieces that lag behind.

3. Trends matter

While we said earlier that the trends shouldn’t be used as an excuse for not knowing your audience, the truth is that trends matter. In our content-packed world where everything is capitalized and digital lives have taken over the physical lives, being relevant equals being alive. That’s why it’s essential for you as a content creator to always be on the verge of what’s en vogue.

Of course, that may differ from niche to niche. For example, if you’re catering to an older audience you may not utilize TikTok aesthetics and social media challenges that much. Vice versa, if you’re in the youth clothing industry, forget about uncool videos and irrelevant photos. And again we’re getting back to where we started. It’s always about the audience and the knowledge of trends depends on the people that are watching.

4. Timing is an art, master it!

A beautiful thing about the screens is that they can show content at the time you want them to.

For example, for a restaurant in a busy downtown location, the content shown on displays can be different depending on the time of the day. In the morning it’s all about waking up and buying coffee along with a croissant for a coffee or maybe an avocado toast for a breakfast snack. Then lunch brings a new content twist, you’re focusing more on the dining experience. Evenings can be completely different too, where the aim would be to create a special atmosphere by turning screens into moody aesthetic objects.

As you can see, digital signage technology is flexible. And it’s versatile in how it can be used at different times showing different content. Don’t just think in a static way that is showing only one thing during any given moment. Widen your marketing perception and nail the engagement by combining and catering to the timing.

5. Use a powerful digital signage content creator

Software definitely matters when it comes to content production. While you can create digital signage content using Paint or Windows Movie Maker, that’s not a way how the serious players looking for boosting their income are doing things.

Thankfully, in 2022 there are many various digital signage software options available and you can choose one that suits your demands.

At Kitcast we are proud of our digital signage content creator. It was designed to give businesses and organizations of all levels and sizes the opportunity to produce top-notch content.
