It’s time to review the best Super Bowl commercials of the 2010s. It’s the era we know the best. 2019 happened just a few years ago. And traditionally, we had some of the coolest, most creative, immensely inspiring pieces of advertising perfection. That’s something that should be celebrated and talked about. Here are our picks for the best Super Bowl commercials 2010s. Enjoy!

1. Pringles - Wow - 2018

Why: sometimes you just need a “Wow”. With Bill Hader of SNL and HBO’s Barry fame, it’s easier to achieve the wow effect. Pringles were wise to include the star in their Super Bowl campaign that highlighted the possibility to mix different chips to reach new flavors. It’s funny, it’s straightforward, and it’s well-acted. And that long “wow”, just wow. Pringles showed their confidence in comedy content and eventually won.

2. Wix.com - #DisruptiveWorld - 2017

Why: everything is brilliant in this action-packed ad. Two superstars Gal Gadot and Jason Statham fight some guys in some restaurant. We don’t quite know the reason but do we actually care? No. We just enjoy how beautifully orchestrated this is. Both actors add their charms to their short commercial roles. However, it’s the website-builder ad, after all. We have another hero, a wannabe-chef-entrepreneur in the headphones that uses Wix.com to create the website for his new venture.

In the true spirit of Hollywood action blockbusters, the busy chef only notices that something went done in the restaurant after our two heroes completely destroyed the place. There’s one line here two, spoken by Gadot who says “Can I have this to go?”. Perfecto. Definitely one of the best Super Bowl commercials of the 2010s and our personal favorite.

3. Doritos - "Now It's Hot" - 2019

Why: Doritos went big, celebrity-big with their 2019 musical ad featuring Chance the Rapper and the one and only Backstreet Boys. When you employ such heavyweights and turn the all-time-classics “I want it that way” into a jingle for your chips, that’s something to be in awe of. And let’s talk about the video itself for a second. It’s juicy, it’s colorful, and it’s amazingly made. It features cool cars, desert landscapes, and a hangar setting. Basically, peak end of the 90s reinvented for the 2010s. We’re here for every second of it because it’s super catchy.

The ball is in your court, Doritos. You have managed to utilize the celebrity power to the max.

4. Mobile Strike - Arnold's One-Liners - 2017

Why: could anyone imagine that in 2017 a mobile game industry would become so big that it would be able to employ Arnold Schwarzenegger as a spokesperson and a hero of a Super Bowl ad? But that is the case with the commercial for Mobile Strike. The premise is quite simple, yet fantastically realized special effects and all. And seeing Mr. Schwarzenegger enjoying himself while saying famous one-liners from his films and pressing the button on his phone is priceless. That makes this placement one of our favorite Super Bowl commercials of the 2010s.

Also, this ad brings musing on the topic of how mobile phones have completely taken the commercial space in the second half of 2017. The era of computers and Apple producing highly cinematic ads for the new Mac is over, now it’s the kingdom of the mobile and the games for the mobile.

5. Clash of Clans - Revenge - 2015

Why: it seems like the Hollywood heavyweight Liam Neeson gives his all to this magnificent Super Bowl commercial from 2015 that actually started the era of high-profile advertisements for mobile phone games. The actor loses the game and promises to avenge. All of it is inside a coffee shop at an undisclosed location. There are three acts here.

First is Neeson promising revenge on his arch nemesis on the Clash of Clans in the style of Taken. Then Neeson getting passive-aggressive toward the barista who mispronounces his name (“it’s Liam”). Finally, Neeson continuing to promise nothing but a menace to the BigBuffetBoy85. His name is AngryNeeson52 in the Clash of Clans, by the way, and there will be nothing but revenge.

The ad ends with a catchy jungle entitled, you guessed it, “AngryNeeson52”. Genius marketing and one of the best Super Bowl commercials 2010s.
